What is a Water Ejector Pump?
A water ejector pump is a mechanical device used to move liquids, slurries, or gases from a low-elevation or low-pressure zone to a higher one. Unlike typical centrifugal pumps, which rely on rotating impellers to move fluid, an ejector pump utilizes the Venturi effect.
By passing a high-velocity motive fluid (such as pressurized water or steam) through a narrowing nozzle, the pump creates a localized low-pressure vacuum zone. This vacuum sucks in the surrounding target liquid (suction fluid) and propels it forward into a diffuser chamber, discharging it effectively. Because they contain no moving parts, ejector pumps are extremely robust, reliable, and clog-resistant.

Understanding the Waste Water Ejector Pump
In residential, commercial, and municipal sanitation systems, a waste water ejector pump (often called a sewage ejector pump) serves a slightly different but critical purpose.
When plumbing fixtures (toilets, laundry drains, sinks) are located in basements or lower levels below the main municipal sewer line grade, gravity cannot carry the wastewater away. An ejector pump basin is installed to collect this sewage. When liquid reaches a set height, a float switch triggers a powerful internal grinder or solid-handling impeller pump, driving the wastewater up and out of the building's drainage stack.
